Microgaming to bring “Lord of the Rings” to life in partnership with Warner Bros.

International leader of gaming software, Microgaming, is collaborating with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution to produce superior graphic video slots based on the movie trilogy, The Lord of the Rings.

The slots are sure to be a success as they will be characteristic of the movies that generated $3 billion worldwide in box offices along with being nominated for a total of 30 Academy Awards, taking 17 including Best Picture. The slots will be for adults in countries where online gaming is permitted and will include The Lord of the Rings movies: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. It’s not the first time either that Microgaming has branded video slots in a timely fashion with highly successful Hollywood features, the latest of which is Hellboy.

Microgaming began over a decade ago when it introduced the first, true online casino software that is now responsible for bringing, on average, 60 innovative games per year to market. Now Microgaming powers over 160 leading online gaming sites and on those sites, Microgaming powers the world’s largest Progressive Jackpot Network. The biggest online jackpot winner took home a single payment win of $6.37 million.

Through January 2010, Microgaming has paid out over $265 million to its customers. Microgaming is also a founding member of eCOGRA, setting the highest standards of fair gaming, responsible operator conduct and player protection along with having been awarded eCOGRA’s Certified Software Seal.

‘Oh how precious,’ those slots will be once they arrive, a trilogy of slots that not only humans, but elves, sorcerers, fairies, hobbits and even Gollum himself will look upon with envious eyes. Even though the slot isn’t being forged in Modor, doesn’t mean it won’t be magical just the same. For now, it remains within the four walls of Microgaming’s headquarters until its release.

According to Microgaming PR, “The Lord of the Rings has a huge entrenched fan base with over 97% awareness of the film franchise, as well as phenomenal and unprecedented home video success.” It should make a decently successful enterprise for the software company then; think it’ll be another Tomb Raider series...?
